Dear friends, on Thursday December 30th we found out that Buddy Girl had cancer. She had not been feeling well since September. On Sunday the 1st, many of her friends came by to spend some time with her.
We took her to her favorite place on Monday January 2nd, Coronado Island. She splashed in the water, ate french fries from the table, laid with us on the grass, and met tons of little kids.
As always, and even as sick as we knew she was, she was pure sunshine. People’s faces lit up when they saw her. She had the ultimate Buddy day, and then we let her go.
While we are incredibly sad, we also feel so blessed that this beautiful angel gave us eleven incredible years, changing both of us forever. Just like the Grinch, our hearts grew at least three sizes loving Buddy.
So many people were touched by her, and we have learned so much, that I’ll be writing a lot more about her on my other blog.
Good night, Bud Bud.

Now I know why I didn’t wear mascara today. What a beautiful story of Buddy’s last day. Thank you for sharing.
Anna
Thank you Anna. She deserved it.
Nancy is dealing with this issue today for both of her little ones. She has had Poncho for 15 years and Cisco for about 10. When she’s up tp it I will have her view your beautiful tribute to Buddy Girl.
Oh, Dee, I’m so very sorry to hear that. It’s just devastating. Please give her our best.
Just seeing this Steph, and feeling some awfully powerful emotions. Lovingly shared and very moving. Sigh.
Thank you Rob. It’s been a hard two months but we are moving through it.
Buddy will be in good company with Poncho Villa and Cisco Kid, both released on March 1. May you cherish the many lessons Buddy has taught you over the years. our dear best furry friends are great mentors!
Hugs to you both
Nancy, SO sorry to hear that you lost both family members at once.
Thinking of you…
